Mónika Barna

Professor of Hungarian Dance Academy

Graduated at the Hungarian Dance Academy as a ballet dancer in 1992 and as a ballet teacher in 2001. Later she continued her studies at the choreographer’s faculty of the University of Theatre and Film.

Between 1991 and 2003 she was a member of the Hungarian State Opera / National Ballet where she danced several smaller solo parts.

Since 2002 she teaches at the Hungarian Dance Academy, where she was appointed as college associate professor in 2005. Since 2012 she has been the head of the classical ballet department. Graduating grade’s ballet mistress in 2011 and 2015. Contributes regularly to the Academy’s Nutcracker-performances both as a coach and in 2016 also as a choreographer.

Invited guest-teacher in Italy Japan and Slovenia.

Besides teaching and coaching, she regularly choreographs smaller pieces for her students: Black and White (2007.), Chicago (2008.), Cell Tango (2009.), Sing Sing (2012.), West Side Story (2013.), Capone (2015.).
